Being the first Mountain Bike Center in the country, homologated by UVP/Portuguese Cycling Federation, this tourist and sport infrastructure is directed to the mountain bikers, regardless of their physical and technical condition. The mountain bike center's route network is extensive and does justice to the quality, nationally recognised, of the numerous singletracks, rural paths, technical areas and landscapes of great beauty - some of which are environmentally protected - that characterise the territory of Estremadura.

The Batalha Mountain Bike Center has its main "door" in the tourist village of Pia do Urso, where the main reception building is located, with changing rooms, sanitary facilities, an information area and an area for washing and small bicycle repairs. They have a network of bike trails and properly signposted a total of 265 kilometres, divided into four levels of difficulty.

It is free to use, except the washing of bicycles. For the use of this area, the users must acquire the respective sheets in the "Centro de Acolhimento e Interpretação da Pia do Urso", in the "Bar da Pia", in the "Piadussa" Restaurant, in the "Loja de Artesanato Gamm" or in the "Loja do Urso" located in the village of Pia do Urso, where the Mountain Bike Center is installed. These equipments do not accept coins. The courses of the Mountain Bike Center go through the municipality of Batalha, Porto de Mós and Leiria.

Besides Mountain Bike, the Batalha council also offers excellent conditions for the practice of Pedestrianism and Climbing, combining with this offer an interesting list of natural and built heritage classified. From the Sensorial Eco-Park of Pia do Urso, to the Grutas da moeda, from the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória to the Museum of Comunidade Concelhia, there are many reasons of interest to visit us.

p1 Green

The route is in the shape of a racket, with a common beginning and end with a circular central part, with passage in São Mamede, where everyone can also start the practice of mountain biking. It develops essentially through rural paths crossing agricultural areas, olive groves, eucalyptus and pine trees.

p2 Blue

Circular trail that goes through rural paths and forest trails with some limestone. The route presents a beautiful landscape with heritage interest associated with the villages and natural areas on the São Mamede plateau.

Distance: 27,1 Km / 16,8 mi

Time: 2h00 to 3h30

Climbing: 538 m / 1765 ft

p3 Red

Circular trail through rural paths, trails and forest single tracks, presenting a lot of limestone on the floor. Landscape and heritage interest associated with the villages and natural areas of the São Mamede plateau, Alto da Maúça and Reguengo do Fetal.

Distance: 37,8 Km / 23,5 mi

Time: 2h30 to 4h30

Climbing: 844 m / 2769 ft

 

p4 Black

Course in the form of 8, which can be started in the village of Batalha. Demanding but spectacular route. It is advisable to prepare a lot and/or do it on days with many hours of light. The entire municipality is covered with various types of trails including technical sections with strong slopes.

Climbing: 1950 m / 6400 ft

p5 Red

Circular trail coinciding with the southern section of the P4, with lots of stone, single tracks with rural and forest paths. Landscaping interest on the Mira-Minde and Natural Park of Serras de Aire e Candeeiros.

Distance: 26,2 Km / 16,3 mi

Time: 1h45 to 3h15

Climbing: 500 m / 1640 ft

p6 Black

This is a circular route thought to be initiated in the village of Batalha but it can also be done from Pia do Urso, going through the central part of the route network and some emblematic points such as Maúça and Reguengo do Fetal, through paths with some stone, not being very technical.

Climbing: 1330 m / 4364 ft

p7 Red

Short circular track with departure/arrival at Batalha´s village, easy through pine forests and eucalyptus trees in almost the whole extension just going up a level due to the sector known as "Amazonia" of technical single track with a short duration.

Distance: 19,4 km / 12 mi
