For the diversity of its landscape, Sabugal is an invitation to sport or simply to occupy free time. Here, you can ride your vehicle, pedal a bicycle, ride a horse or simply walk through the mountains.

The landscapes, the marks of human presence and activity and even the life of its inhabitants, with their own characteristics, can make a visit to the municipality an unforgettable source of enriching experiences and knowledge. In an area that for centuries marked the war border between two neighbouring kingdoms, and not always of very friendly relations, we find the military constructions, which intended to clearly mark the boundaries of the territory but, at the same time, we can observe the cultural continuities of the peoples on both sides, sharing traditions, ways of life and even influencing their speech..

The political frontier has not been a cultural barrier, nor is it an obstacle to contacts and collaborations which, nowadays, can take the form of cross-border projects, such as the one which currently brings together the Gata and Malcata areas around the image of the Iberian lynx.

The recent restoration works of the Sabugal castle have given rise to another space for shows or other initiatives within it.

Do not think that there is only natural or architectural heritage in the county. The possibilities for leisure and sports are very wide. In the county seat, the swimming pools, the municipal pavilion or stadium are structures with characteristics that allow the realization of official competitions. But for those who prefer a more uncompromising activity, there are the river beaches of Sabugal, Foios, Quadrazais and Vale das Éguas, or the water plans of the Sabugal and Alfaiates dams. Here, there are good conditions for several aquatic activities.

Mountaineering fans can also find good places in the area for their favourite sport. For fishing lovers, there are some places with excellent conditions for their practice.

It was inaugurated on 14/12/2014.
